Background:

The Robotic Process Automation (RPA) team grew exponentially in 3 years supporting other organization functions by providing automation services of repetitive activities. Usually, tasks being automated were mass emailing, email reading and auto-reply, etc. RPA team deployed Automated processes (BOTs), tracked its performance, and serviced on the requirement. The clients of the service who owned the BOTs would raise alerts and requests for service whenever there was an issue. And the RPA team had to attend to the requests. Initially, it was doable since the no. of BOTs were less. But with the exponential growth, it became hard for the team to track all , and service started getting hampered. With more BOT deployment requests in the pipeline, the future was going to be messy. So, the team management decided to solve the issue by making a centralized platform for all the resources with operations capability for the RPA team and monitoring capability for client and management.

My Role:

Plan formulation in collaboration with fellow UX Architect. Stakeholder discussion and contextual inquiry moderation in turns. Card sorting session co-ordination. Collaboration with fellow UX Architect for Analysis, IA, screen flows. Wire-frames for 3 sections out of 5. Supervising visual designers for UI.

Stakeholder Workshop

Initially we discussed with RPA management people and stakeholders to understand the breadth and depth of their operations in terms of tasks performed. The discussions which ran for multiple sessions remotely as well as in-person helped us understand how their user groups are defined and how the activities are distributed among those groups.

We were able to map the whole RPA business ecosystem.
